Hi, my name is Mrs. Mary Goodwater, and I am the new junior high Language Arts and Religion teacher at St. Mary’s. I am a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have been teaching in several of the Catholic Schools in Lincoln for the past 20 plus years. I love teaching because I really enjoy it when the students get that, “I get it!” moment. Children are our future and I take very seriously my job of bringing them along to learn to follow Jesus and become better Christians.
In my younger years, I trained to become a Sister. I was not called by God to become a Sister so I left the convent and continued to teach in our Catholic Schools. I treasure the religious formation I received in the convent. Eventually, I met a wonderful man, Bob, and married him. We had one beautiful daughter, Teresa, who is now a senior at Pius. When Teresa was just a baby, Bob was diagnosed with stomach cancer and died when she was just 5 months old. So, I’ve been enjoying raising her and teaching for all of these past years. I love spending time with family and friends. I look forward to my years at St. Mary’s.
