In 1946, Mother Teresa felt called to follow God in a special way. She wanted to help the poor and the forgotten where she lived in India. She founded her own religious order, the Missionaries of Charity, in 1950. Mother Teresa embraced a life of poverty and cared for those who had no one else to care for them.
To honor both the canonization of Saint Teresa of Kolkata and the Holy Year of Mercy, St. Mary’s School has decided to show our selflessness by giving to the St. Francis Food Pantry, run by Catholic Social Services. The St. Francis Food Pantry provided food to over 8,000 people in Lincoln last year. We hope to help them with their mission during our 2016-17 school year.
We will have a food collection barrel set up in our main hall for all donations. If you are able to help us, please bring any non-perishable food items to school throughout the year. Every can, bag, and box will help us help our community!!
